My career goals have changed quite a few times since I was little: veterinarian, teacher, pediatrician, non-profit worker, nurse, and currently mental health counselor. While this is a wide range of options, all of these incorporate one key factor, which is my affinity for helping others. Due to this, I’ve always known that I would end up pursuing a career that would allow me to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I feel it is what I am meant to do.

From starting my very first job at the age of 15, I began learning how to work with people. Of course it was only an entry level position at a fall festivities farm, but still, I was able to learn how to resolve issues so that people felt heard and understood. I’ve since been employed in two separate restaurant jobs heavily focused on guest hospitality, one volunteer position at a local plant farm that was in need of help on the weekends, and an internship at a counseling office. Considering that I am still working at three of these four jobs while also attending high school and college at the same time, life can often feel hectic; however; I thoroughly enjoy what I do.

Everyday, I am able to experience different ways, big and small, that I am able to leave a positive mark on someone. Who knew my counseling office internship would lead me to standing in the parking lot helping someone jump their car? While I’d like to say that I’ve figured out what I will be doing with my life, I can never be certain, but I hope that whatever it ends up being, I will never lose my love for helping and lifting up others.
