Emily Kovner

Emily Kovner showed early promise in architectural design and fine arts. Matriculating at Stanford University, she graduated with honors as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society. As she earned her Master of Architecture at Yale University, Emily Kovner received further recognition, serving as a Yale Merit Scholar, being honored as the winning designer for the Yale Building Project, and earning the Eero Saarinen Award for Excellence in Design. While at Yale, Emily Kovner also worked as a teaching fellow in the Architecture and History of Art departments. Upon graduation, she began serving as the Lead Instructor for the Architecture 200 Series at the University of Southern California School of Architecture.

For nearly 10 years, Emily Kovner has worked in the field of architecture as Managing Partner and Designer for the internationally renowned firm, Eric Owen Moss Architects. In that position, Emily Kovner draws upon her experience and education to offer creative solutions and solve problems for clients around the world. Emily Kovner’s project experience includes residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings with an array of priorities. For example, one client held sustainability and efficient use of space as top priorities, while another wanted to explore contemporary design, a rich materials palette, and connection between interior and exterior spaces. In each case, Emily Kovner met the challenge with aplomb, creating spaces that honored clients' needs and wishes while still maintaining integrity to an artistic vision. One of her designs in Venice Canals, California, a 3,500-square-foot home known as Canal House, was an American Institute of Architects Los Angeles Home Tour Honoree in 2008.

Emily Kovner continues to provide design services through Eric Owen Moss Architects, participating in projects around the world that embrace economic, environmental, and social responsibility.
