Emily loves birth, pregnancy, women's health, motherhood, midwifery and massage! She was born and raised principally in Oregon. As a child she lived for two years in Cote’ de Ivoire and she spent two years as a teenager in Kenya. These overseas experiences fueled her desire to work in healthcare.
In her desire to understand the balance of health and disease in the human experience, Emily studied a number of different healing practices. In 2002, she began her studies in herbal medicine at the Australasian College of Health Sciences. In 2003, Emily received her first massage. It was the medicine she needed to begin healing from chronic migraine headaches. Captivated by the healing power of touch, Emily enrolled in Massage Therapy School at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, in 2003. In 2004, she received her first Reiki attunement and is now a Reiki Master in the Usui Reiki tradition. In 2007, Emily began volunteering as a birth doula. In 2007, she also received her certificate in massage with over 800 hours of training. In 2009 she studied Full-Circle Doula Care with the International Center for Traditional Childcare. In 2010, she studied Infant Massage Instruction with the International Loving Touch Foundation and is now a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. Emily became a full time massage therapy instructor at Anthem College, in Beaverton, Oregon, in 2012, and she completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies at Portland State University in 2013. Now, Emily is earning her Masters Degree in Midwifery from Bastyr University in Seattle. She will graduate in June 2017 and be credentialed as a Certified Professional Midwife.
To maintain her own health Emily enjoys walking, spending time in nature, surfing and practicing yoga. She loves travel, the outdoors, adventures, reading, gardening and cooking. She loves spending quality time with her husband, son and dog.
