Emily started working as a barista with specialty coffee during her time at university and continued in the industry after her graduation. Emily has worked for a number of Australian and international coffee roasters, focusing on quality control, education and improving the supply chain from crop to cup.

Emily competed in the World Barista Championship in 2001, Judged the World Barista Championship between 2002-2005 and sat on the WBC Board of Directors from 2008- 2011. She has judged the Cup of Excellence programme in Brazil and is a founding member of the Australian Specialty Coffee Association.

Emily has written extensively for coffee and hospitality publications and presented on specialty coffee, cafe design and education at conferences around the world.

Since 2012 Emily has been based in Sydney working with ST ALi COFFEE.
