Emily Payan

I have had a passion for photography since I was a little girl who used the money I saved to buy disposable cameras that produced what I refer to as my "headless photography series."

It began when I stepped behind the lens and applauded the ideology of what I saw; of what I fell in love with, adored, and decided to tack onto my list of "things that make me the girl my parents named Emily." It was real, incandescent, and weighty, and I claim love over an art form because apart from it, the world makes less sense.

For me, photography isn't always about knowing, rather, it is about doing. I think about my love for photography and how it stems from a deeply-rooted admiration for creation and excellence, and I can't help but be compelled to use this art form as a mirror into the world that was created with beauty and perfection in mind.

The Cliffnotes version: I have a camera. I use it. I think I use it pretty well. I want to use it on you. You should let me.

I find beauty in creating and photography has become my canvas.

I look forward to working with you and your smiles. It is your freedom and willingness that brings me life and gives me joy.
