Emily Theodore

Toronto, Ont.

April 4th, 2013 was the day my life got a little better. A new episode of The Mindy Project premiered, and I received my acceptance letter to Ryerson's famous Journalism program.

While most children loved playing sports, I loved reading books. I still remember the day my passion for the written word was formed. An eight-year-old me sat anxiously as my third grade teacher read over my first real writing assignment. "This is great, Emily," she said. Little did she know, I would become an aspiring writer.

As time proceeded, my interests developed. I love politics, music, art, film and drama. Besides a career in print, broadcast, and investigative journalism, I yearn to become a television writer. With an appreciation for dramatic arts, an obsession with great television, and a natural zeal for writing, television writing seems like the perfect fit for me. If television isn't in my stars, I'm confident that Ryerson's Journalism program will move me in the right direction.
