Newark, Delaware, United States

My name is Emily Wunsch, and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Delaware pursuing an honors degree in Spanish Studies and an honors degree with distinction in Exercise Science.

I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but I also have strong ties to Spain since I spent a year before college living in the vibrant city of Madrid as an exchange student. While abroad, I had the opportunity to travel to four countries, take intensive Spanish courses, and to speak at the Rotary International Conference in Lisbon, Portugal.

Connections abroad eventually led me to apply to the University of Delaware and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to become a Blue Hen. On campus, I am involved in Greek Life, the American Chemical Society, the Office of Admissions, and College of Health Science as a Student Ambassador.

Beyond these activities, I devote most of my time to Research. Currently, I work as a Value Institute Scholar at Christiana Hospital with the Blood Pressure Ambassador Program and soon my team will be launching another program on Tobacco Cessation. In addition, last year I was a Summer Scholar under the direction of Dr. Nancy Getchell in the department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology focusing on developmental learning as seen in the pre-frontal cortex. I hope to stay involved in all three projects throughout the rest of my undergraduate career.

After graduation, I want to pursue a career in public health research with an emphasis on the Latino community. My dream is to eventually work as a pediatrician or pediatric physical therapist.

In my very limited free time, I enjoy reading, running, baking, and hanging out with family and friends. Eventually I would love to travel the world trying new food and exploring new places.
