I’m currently a stay at home mum after giving up work in April 2012 to look after my 2 year old daughter. I have always wanted to write professionally and spent hours of my childhood reading magical (as saw them) books by Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl and the like. At ten I wrote a book called The Secret Six ( a blatant rip-off the Secret Seven books, but as a 10 year old I was totally unaware of copyright laws!). Later during college I relished in the creative writing assignments during my A-Level English course.
Despite my love of writing and reading, I have made it to 30 years old without actually writing more than four initial chapters of a book and I would love to be able to put pen to paper, or finger to keyboard and write a book that I can actually call a success. I must add that I would consider a success as just being able to get to 10000 words.
I have been playing around with several book ideas and have written about 5000 words on each. Each book has its merits and I have started all of them simply because I have had some great ideas and during the process of jotting down these ideas I have ended up writing several chapters as I got carried away. Now it is just a case of adding to each one.
I have learnt so much in the last year, simply making the most of my Kindle and devouring mystery, thriller, murder and post-apocolyptic books and I firmly believe that the more you read, the better you can write.
