Emma Crowley

I am currently a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst studying towards a BS in Hospitality and Tourism Management and also a Bachelors Degree with an Individual Concentration in Fashion PR and Marketing. I hope to use all the skills and experiences i have had while in school to pursue a career within the fashion industry.

I have always loved the world of fashion, but I was never sure how I could turn it into a career. In high school I took fashion design classes, but I knew it wasnt for me. It wasnt until after I started reading fashion blogs, reading magzines, and did research, that I learned that there is more to the fashion industry than just making clothes.

With my experience in college, it has opened my eyes to possible career paths I can take. WIth Her Campus Umass, I write weekly articles about topics relating to college-aged women's lives, for me particlarly related to fashion. Here i am the business developent mnager where I gain local sponsors and maintain relationships with them. I also had an internship with Rent the Runway where me and a group of 7 other girls spread the awareness of the brand by means of throwing events, social media, and advertising. I also worked in retail stores throughout high school.

With these experiences, supplemented by my wandering eye for fashion, I feel that in the future a job within the fashion industry will be something I will love. Whether I am working for a magazine, for a PR company, or buying for a retail store, I feel that it won't feel like I am going to work every day, because it is something I am passionate about!
