Someday, I will know what I want to do with my life, but for now I am just a wandering. Someday I will settle down and think of my future, but for now I am chasing my dreams. Someday I will be the exact person I was meant to become, but for now, I am just a college student. learning from my mistakes, meeting new people, and growing into who I am meant to become. I am Emma Leighty. And this is who I am.
I love the arts. I am a digital art major and throughout my schooling, I have taken many courses that have broadened my horizons and helped mold me into the artist I am now. I am by no means done being molded, but for now I should be fine.
I believe that everyone can be an artist. We all begin as creative minds. Naïve and wise and bold and brilliant. But also soft and impressionable and vulnerable and fragile. We are born with a passion and a confidence about us that blinds us of embarrassment and failure. Imagination isn’t childish, because we are children. But soon we all learn and grow and people forget how to be bold. People forget how to be fragile. So we judge one another, and get embarrassed, and stop imagining.
I believe that everyone can be an artist because all you need is imagination. And courage. And passion. And even though people forget how to be those things, it doesn’t mean someone can’t remind them. It doesn’t mean they can’t remind themselves.
I am thankful for all the people who are in my life today because those are the people who helped remind me that I like being creative. I like being imaginative. Because although I have matured and learned and grown, I can still be a child sometimes. And that’s why I am an artist. It’s who I am. I may be vulnerable, judgmental, fragile, and scared. But I am even more passionate, vibrant, bold, and courageous.
