I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in June 2021 with a First Class Honours degree in BSc (H) Food Science & Technology. To further my studies and skills, I have attended various CPD activities ran by the university and became a Joint Course Representative for final year BSc (H) Food Science & Technology. I also went on field trips to Daisy Made Ice Cream, Premier Foods, Gadsby’s bakery, ‘Starkey’s Fruit’ orchard and Campden BRI Student LaunchPad. In August 2021, I completed a week-long virtual internship with Pladis Global to gain an insight into the food industry.
After completion of my degree, my ambition is to secure a graduate opportunity in the food industry to develop my food industry skills, career skills and competencies. I intend to make a lifelong career within the food industry. I started studying Food Science because I have a keen interest in learning more about the nutritional content and labelling of food as a result of allergies and a high blood pressure diagnosis in the family. I have now seen first-hand how food contributes to societal health and wellbeing.
In 2018 I won the January subject star award in Business BTEC. In October 2018 I was awarded the subject award winner for Applied Science. These awards were achieved through a willingness to learn, my knowledge of the subject, my work ethic and persistence. Another personal achievement was in 2016 when I was awarded the National Citizenship Service (NCS) champion award which I achieved through teamwork, applied skills development, honesty and communication.
In my free time I regularly participate in ballroom and Latin dancing, which I have been doing for nine years. I particularly enjoy classical and modern sequence. I also enjoy reading and volunteering at my local library once a week which helps my interpersonal and communication skills. I also have a passion for baking and regularly bake cakes and experiment with recipes.
