Emma Meek

Harlow, Essex, England

I am a passionate creative dance artist in my final year studying for a BA Honours Degree in Dance at Bath Spa University. My training has focused particularly on Contemporary dance, to a professional level, with additional experience of Commercial, Street, Ballet, Jazz and Tap. I am also skilled in Choreography as well as Physical Theatre and Contact Improvisation and have performed in a range of venues across the UK from a disused railway station in Bath to Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.

Being a highly versatile artist, I am eager to continue using my skills within projects of interdisciplinary, site specific creations, dance film media and editing, researching and performing. Alongside my studies I have furthered my own Contemporary dance practice having collaborated and performed with The Karla Shacklock Company, Lila Dance Company, Phillip Van Huffle (Retina), Beth Powsland, and attended workshops with Theo Clinkard, Jo Fong, and Gary Shore.

Since June 2010 I helped set up and taught dance at Dance Fusion in Harlow, Essex introducing dance to all age groups and abilities.

Although based in Essex, I have worked throughout the UK and am willing to travel elsewhere to perform become involved in site specific work or to run workshops.

I look to continue as an artist and to further my interests in the field of dance and creative arts. I am keen for both voluntary and placement work at all times within any of these fields in addition to new challenges in dance, being open to collaborate, create and trial works with other artists.
