EMMANUEL OKUNADE

A front-end web developer by training, my path into accessibility started with a simple realization: most of the web is built without the people who need it most in mind. That shift now drives everything I do — auditing sites and documents against WCAG 2.2, advising teams on inclusive design, and researching how emerging AI tools can (and can't yet) meet the needs of blind and low-vision users.

I'm researching accessibility and AI, studying how AI-generated image descriptions compare to human-written alt text, what blind and low-vision users actually need from an image description, and where the gap between "technically compliant" and "genuinely usable" still lies. I combine hands-on development experience (HTML/CSS, WordPress, Python for data analysis) with structured research methods — qualitative coding, statistical testing, and mixed-methods design — to turn accessibility from a checkbox into a measurable outcome.

Outside of accessibility work, I'm an avid reader and novel lover, and I enjoy videography and photography.
