I've always found people interesting.
Why is it that some people can cope with everything that's thrown at them whilst others fall? I've found working with people that if you take the time to get to know them, they are amazingly rich and diverse. Everyone has a story to tell and it's generally a story of resilience and that' a big reason why I believe that in order to enjoy strong and lasting relationships, you need to be resilient.
So what is resilience?
I define resilience as the ability to bouce back and keep moving forward towards our goals. Resilient people understand who and what pushes our buttons and manage their emotional response accordingly. Resilient people develop positive relationships, resources and their capacity to manage change - and the stress that comes with it!
We've upgraded the way we live.
We are now more sophisticated in technology, our preferences and tastes. We expect to do more in less time and get there quicker. If we chose to, we could live 24/7 connected to news ad information. But here's the thing. As people, we now have to cognitively and emotionally process more things than we've ever had to. Put smply, we've upgraded our lives but not our brains and that's why I'm convinced resilience matters and I'm not alone.
