Emma Parkerson

Director, Designer, and Writer in San Francisco, California

Growing up in South Florida, I dreamed of being a doctor. I spent my high school and undergraduate years preparing for medical training, shadowing physicians and studying public health. Today, though not a physician, I draw on these understandings of healthcare as I work with teachers to transform teaching into a true, highly respected profession.

I'm a connector, committed to building bridges across organizations. Most recently, with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, I designed and continue to lead the Network to Transform Teaching (NT3), an improvement community that aims to ensure every student has access to accomplished teaching, every day. This work builds from my nearly 10 years' experience convening Board-certified teachers from across the country to design standards and professional learning.

I'm interested in writing about and consulting on networked improvement in education or other social services sectors. I am a huge coffee lover, and I welcome exploring ideas for partnership over a cup!
