Emma Sachs

I am Emma Sachs. I am a fifteen year-old accomplished equestrian. I have two younger sisters and feel they have made a part of who I am today.I have also experienced some hardship which took strength and understanding to overcome. As being an older sister I have become very sensitive and caring and I feel that is a quality which is part of a good person. After gathering others’ opinions, I noticed them saying I'm pretty, and funny, and sweet, but I realized that’s not all I want to be perceived as.

To me, a truly genuine person has a value that he or she can offer that makes him or her who they are. I feel I can offer something, nothing much, but just enough to help others and improve myself as well. The value I have to offer is being optimistic and living life to the fullest and showing others to never give up and pursue their dreams. From personal experience of losing two girls at my other school, I realized life is precious, and that there’s nothing in this world we can’t overcome with the support of friends, family, coaches, and spiritual guidance. I realized we should embrace every person and opportunity that we encounter because one day they may not be there. As a result of this, I created a plan for a club called S.M.I.L.E.S, which stands for Saving Minors in their Lives and Enhancing their Smiles. Being the person I am, and being very sensitive and caring I didn’t take this tragic news lightly. I felt confused how young girls could take her life so fast. This hit my heart, so hard and I felt I needed to make a difference. I formed this club to help save others lives because I know what stress and bullying feels like, and I want to help others overcome their hard times and know that they did overcome it. The motto I live by is, “Live Sparkly”. To me this always reminds me to live life to the fullest and to be excited about each day and take them as they come. I want others to know that yes it is a silly saying but just saying it puts a smile on your face and makes you feel better, and think more positively about the life you’re leading. I want to raise money for The suicide awareness foundation. This really makes me who I am. I care about EVERYONE no matter who they are, I want to change lives and do something that will change my life as well.
