There is a TED Talk on the power of vulnerability where in it Dr. Brown states that “vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.” That is why I am pursuing my MBA at Kellogg: an institution that encourages each student to live a bold, fearless life in and outside the classroom to transform into the person they aspire to become.

As the 2nd of 4 (now 5) girls growing up in a conservative area of Tennessee, I was shaped by a set of bold change makers whom I am proud to call my mentors. I was challenged to blossom which helped me to find a calling that truly combines my passions: human capital consulting. Through a series of impeccable clients and fast-paced mergers, my thirst and intellectual curiosity for understanding the intricacies that comprise business operations, interpersonal dynamics, and leadership styles have grown.

Couple that interest with my love of travel. From meeting a multi-lingual nomad in the middle of the Sahara Desert to taking a 3 month, around-the-world trip to partnering with social enterprises in Central America, my perspective on the equity and depth of our world’s people has ignited a long-term passion for me to partner with enterprises at the grassroots level. I aspire to pursue an MBA to concentrate on building upon my business acumen while focusing on social entrepreneurship with an ultimate goal to either partner with social enterprise founders to help them solve their operational problems through scalable business solutions or to work in human-centered design consulting or product management.

On a personal note, I am a generational mixture of farmers, nuclear physicists, pipefitters, artists, teachers and healthcare gurus. I am an avid runner, traveling consultant, daughter, grand optimist, family gatherer, devoted sister to four, Texas transplant, vegetarian foodie, exploratory cyclist, aspiring yogi, memory documenter, and lifelong learner.
