Emma was born and raised in England and has had a love for horses for as long as she can remember. She started riding at the age of 6 and had her first pony at 7. Emma was a a very keen member of the pony club for a number of years. At the age of 13 she moved on from pony club to local shows and cross country events and this was where she found her passion for eventing. At 16 Emma’s parents opened an equestrian center for both riding lessons and boarding. Although still at school she was on the yard at any and every opportunity and started taking the BHS (British Horse Society) exams starting with the Ride and Road Safety, and Stage 1.

Emma was a keen show jumper with her horse Holly and did eventing on her horse Degan. After finishing school she became the stable manager for the boarding side of the business responsible for over 50 horses and 6 members of staff . Emma carried on with the exam system completing stage 4 and the BHSII (Intermediate instructor). Emma also was working for the BHS in training their own staff for the BHS exams.

In 1998 she started her family and with 2 babies she had to put all her energy into family life. In 2008 Emma and her family (husband Julian and 3 children Charlotte, Jack and Jessica) moved from England to Nova Scotia. Jessica started riding at Todd Hill Farm in September 2013 which ignited a spark within Emma to share her knowledge and experience with students young and old.
