I co-founded Pointslocal after 14 years in various leadership roles at The York Times Company, including directing Internet technology and product strategy for The New York Times Regional Media Company, creating and leading email publishing for NYTimes.com, managing mobile publishing for NYTimes.com, Directing Operations for GolfDigest.com, launching New York Times Digital startup WineToday.com, and Directing Online teams for The Gainesville Sun and The Santa Rosa Press Democrat. During that time he coded and launched the first Web site to go live in the New York Times company (winning the first Newspaper Association of America Digital Edge Award for Design) and was part of the team that on 9/11 launched the first online project to be cited in a Pulitzer Prize - Public Service Award for "A Nation Challenged". Prior to joining the Times MIchael was Founder and CEO of Hot Lava, a software company that produced an image compression software that was superior to JPEG in size and quality measures, and also founded Half Baked Productions, one of the first all digital audio recording studios in Florida.
