The idea for the telf was formed in 2002, when I was incarcerated. I wrote a 35 page plan, which was lost, but burned into my memory. The following is that plan, further fine tuned into what will finally become that dream:
Telf will give people the chance to help themselves by providing organic, eco-friendly, all inclusive room & board, training in specific fields of study, (picked by the student), jobs (with telf, and its subsidiaries, and/or sponsors), Emotional support, drug & alcohol addiction recovery & prevention, education, & general welfare to:
A. Foster System age outs: On 18th birthday foster kids “age out”. And are sent to “the streets” to fend for themselves. Resulting in a large percentage in jail, homeless, and/or participating in criminal activities. There is currently no system in place preventing this.
We will locate age outs up to age 25, and offer them this chance as well.
B. Homeless: Broken down into youth/adult groups, ages 14-25. (via referral, street pickup, etc.)
C. Alternative Sentencing for ages 14-25. Broken down into youth/adult groups. Sentenced to the program.
D. Foster system housing alternative. (specialize in problem [multiple placements, behavioral issues, or volunteer]cases)
