Caroline Scoggins

Student and Teacher in Athens, GA

Hello, my name is Caroline and I am a teacher. I am in my final semester of college, my full-time student teaching placement and I feel more like a teacher than ever. My teaching journey began in high school when I took my first-ever job as a dance instructor. I fell in love with the magic of teaching, the relationships built with the students, and watching them grow and shine. In my sophomore year of college, I took my next job at The Boys & Girls Club in Athens. I fell in love with the children, and I was amazed by how vibrant they were, and how loving and full of potential they are. It was evident to me more than ever that teaching is not just a teacher filling their students with knowledge, but a sacred responsibility and special opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. I have the best experience being a student of teaching myself at our great University. Each placement has felt like the exact place I am supposed to be. I am so grateful for the guidance of my professors and gracious mentor teachers who have opened up their classrooms to me. I have been placed at the same elementary school for the last two semesters and the relationships with students and staff I have built here mean the world to me. I feel so incredibly humbled and honored that it is my calling. I get to wake up each morning knowing that I can make a difference in the world. How lucky am I?
