Ellyn
Writer in Seattle, Washington
My previous life was as a screenwriter, zipping around LA spending far too much time in meetings (and cars.) Now I write novels, raise teenagers and shelter animals, including an obese (we're working on it) polydactyl cat and a very large dog. My first book, Adventures with Max and Louise was published by Avon/Harper Collins. Family Secrets is my second book. 50 Acts of Kindness came out in 2015. My book of short stories, Funny is the New Sad will be published in February 2016.
I am currently writing a LGBT young adult novel, called Chasing Nirvana. Yes, I do mean the band. It's set in 1993 when the phones were big and music was all about Nirvana and Whitney Houston. My main character, a young gay girl nominated for Prom Queen, tries to get Nirvana to play at her prom.
I'm part of a great group blog called The Girlfriends Book Club. We write about the writing life and a wide range of serious and humorous topics. I read it daily for inspiration.
My biggest non-writing adventure this summer was swimming across Lake Washington in the Park-to-Park swim in Seattle. I loved it so much I'm looking for other open water swims. (We raised over 30K for Children's Hospital Emergency Services.)
