Eoghan Ó Neachtain Public Relations Leader
A seasoned public relations expert, Eoghan Ó Neachtain has worked with a plethora of companies, organisations and individuals, throughout his long and successful career. From his beginnings in the Defence Forces to his position as Group Head of Public Affairs, at Bord Gáis, Eoghan Ó Neachtain has played an instrumental role in all of the organizations he has worked with.
Having been with the Defence Forces since 1975, Eoghan Ó Neachtain, became Defence Forces Media and Communications Manager, in 1994. In this role, Eoghan Ó Neachtain gained a great deal of experience in public relations. Since his retirement from the military in 2000, Eoghan Ó Neachtain has worked with a wide range of high profile companies, prominent individuals and leading organisations.
By 2007, after assisting many prominent businesses, organisations and individuals with all aspects of public relations, Eoghan Ó Neachtain became Government Press Secretary. In this role, Eoghan Ó Neachtain assisted three different Taoisigh, by acting as spokesperson to the media and by providing advice about media communications, public relations and public affairs. Additionally, Eoghan Ó Neachtain was also involved in several high profile political events and projects. He was involved during visits from the Queen and from U.S. President Barack Obama.
Now, Eoghan Ó Neachtain is the Group Head of Public Affairs at Bord Gáis. At Bord Gáis, Ó Neachtain has played an instrumental role in many of the company’s development projects, expansion projects and subsidiaries, including the development of the company’s subsidiary, Irish Water, and in the sale of the company’s energy division.
At Bord Gáis, Eoghan Ó Neachtain manages public relations and the political perspective of the company. He’s also responsible for creating and implementing public affairs policies and strategies, which are designed to meet the goals of the company. In addition to being Group Head of Public Affairs at Bord Gáis, Ó Neachtain also contributes to many radio shows, television shows, and national publications, such as the Independent.
