Emma - Rose
Devon
Having graduated from the University of Exeter with a 1 Class Honours in Drama, Emma-Rose is now a theatre practitioner, currently studying a Masters in Applied Theatre Practice. Her research interests are focussed in transition, prevention, disability and well-being, specifically within the context of young people and Care Leavers. Recently, she has begun to explore the ‘digital’, and how such platforms can influence, support and develop the work of Applied Theatre/Drama.
Emma-Rose has experience in movement and dance, and encourages movement-based praxis to inform her work when facilitating theatre projects. She has recently been looking at improvisation and spontaneity within the context of Theatre Action. Previously, Emma-Rose has worked with an array of young people on movement-based ventures, including those with personal and social issues, physical and mental disability, and low self-esteem. She has also choreographed more mainstream work, including installation, TIE projects and fringe/street theatre.
Currently, Emma-Rose is working to establish ‘Perfectly Mixed Up’, a drama collective that brings together Applied drama students and Care Leavers in the South West. Much of her current research into ‘community’ and ‘practice-informed pedagogy’ is being developed from the collaboration.
As well as ‘Perfectly Mixed Up’, Emma-Rose works as an Arts Award Advisor for the bronze and silver schemes. In 2013, she will be taking the young people of Devon Youth Theatre for their awards. Also, Emma-Rose works for Big Foot Arts Education. Through BigFoot, she works with various group of young people; looking at themes of transition, social and emotional support, and PSHE-focused workshops.
