Dr. Elizabeth Galindo Roberts is a renowned couture designer, historical research and costume design consultant for cinema, and conservation and preservation expert in textiles and accessories. Dr. Galindo Roberts brings extraordinary enthusiasm and energy to pass on her vast and broad knowledge to the next generation of students wishing to pursue careers in fashion, design, theater and film, and costume-making.

Having studied extensively abroad, Dr. Galindo Roberts is known as a leading expert in designing and creating hand-made clothing patterns, unique textiles, burnt-out velvets, stenciled velvets and hand-painted silks using centuries-old “originary craft practices.” In fact, she earned a Certificate in Weaving from Fondazione Arte della Seta LISIO in Florence, Italy, where she learned some of the finest and oldest techniques for weaving silks and precious metals. Also in Florence, Italy, she earned a Certificate in the Art of Silkscreen Textile Printing and Design at Art Studio FUJI, and learned 17th and 18th Century leather dyeing and imprinting techniques from master craftsmen using hand-made tools at Scuola del Cuoio. She also studied under master embroiderers at the legendary Lesage Embroidery House in Paris, earning a Certificate in 16th Century Embroidery Techniques. She was also chosen among many candidates for one of the first paid internships at the Salvatore Ferragamo and Roberto Cavalii silk screening studios.

Dr. Galindo Roberts brings her expansive knowledge of historical textile construction methods and hands-on skill in embroidery, imprinting, weaving, and leather dyeing, to the design of original costumes and crafts for Hollywood films. As a costume and production design researcher, she has collaborated on films with directors such as David Fincher, Terrence Malick and Paul Thomas Anderson, as well as prominent costume designers including Jacqueline West, Cindy Evans, and Mark J. Bridges. Her creations made with authentic, historically accurate techniques add greater credibility and depth to the character in each scene, helping the actor to strike a deeper emotional connection with members of the audience. Dr. Galindo Roberts is a member of the Costume Designer’s Guild Local 892.
