Emily Kramer
Waterloo, Iowa
Even as a child, Emily always had an interest in the creative arts. Her father, an artist, guitarist, and computer systems analyst, encouraged his children's creative passions, while her mother taught her children to have a strong work ethic and the desire to succeed. Studying theatre, music, filmmaking, photography, and videography inspired Emily to explore a career in Electronic Communications.
While attending college, Emily's main interest in filmmaking developed. An internship, as Script Supervisor on an award-winning, full-length comedy film entitled "The Steviewondershow", was the highlight of her academic career.
After graduating, Emily found steady employment in supervisory retail positions in the Cedar Valley area. At the same time, she discovered an aerial photography firm looking for temps with Photoshop experience. To Emily's delight, she found she enjoyed making corrections to the digitized orthophotography for hours on end. After her first summer of temping, Emily was asked again to work another summer, and then again the next summer. Finally Emily found the full-time position she was looking for in a field relative to her academic expertise.
With 3-plus years of employment at Aerial Services under her belt, Emily has made it to the top of the Production team as a Level I Technician. She supervises and trains up to 6 employees at a time, due to her ability to learn new software and teach techniques and tools to others. She also manages the production of many projects independently. Her ability to quickly adapt and grow in the Photogrammetry profession is due largely to her self-motivation and computer prowess.
Emily would ultimately like to pursue more creative endeavors. While producing geographical solutions for clients is fulfilling, it does not allow Emily to implement much creativity or her keen eye for design. She also has the desire to connect with colleagues that share her interests in entertainment media. Being able to contribute to a team, designing and developing media as an expressive outlet, is Emily's lifelong goal.
