My name is Yorgos Iak. Epsimos, MD

I was raised in Kos, an island in the Dodecanese area of the South Aegean Sea to greek parents and orthodox legacy from my grandfathers's sides.
I studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, (Macedonia, Greece), currently working in my private practice in Kos Island (Dodecanese, South Aegean) and previously in General Hospital of Athens "G. Gennimatas" and in General Hospital of Kilkis, (Macedonia, Greece) for my surgical and clinical training in Ophthalmology treating patients at different departments including:
-Glaucoma,
-Medical Retina, (Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration etc.)
-Occular Inflammation & Immunology,
-Cornea,
-Paediatric Ophthalmology,
-Vision Electrophysiology,
-Intravitreal injections,
-Cataract,
-Vitreoretinal &
-Refractive surgery.
Languages that I speak include Greek, English, German, Russian and started some efforts in Italian, Turkish.
My early admiration for space exploration I quenched with a membership in The Planetary Society since 1999 continuing on its Discovery Team since 2010. In my early interests I can also describe amateur musical and sketching arts as well as computer use since 8088s era. Grid Computing had also been of my interest since the Berkeley experiment of SETI@home, this leading me to contribute computer time to the research projects of World Community Grid since 2006.
For my professional occupation with Ophthalmology I have acquired membership in British General Medical Council (2012), Ophthalmology Society of Northern Greece (2012), Hellenic Ophthalmology Society (2014), the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (2013), the European Registry of Quality Outcomes for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (EUREQUO) (2012), volunteering for Apostoli NGO and still preserve the idea of volunteering or working in St. Johns Eye Hospital of Jerusalem someday..
