Erasmus Setubal Accommodation
In the ErasmusSetubal rooms you will live and study in exceptional surroundings.
The modern port city of Setúbal, with a large medieval quarter, is ensconced in the protected Serra da Arrábida, the only area of Portugal with truly Mediterranean features, vegetation and climate.
The apartment was built where the XIV century walls used to be. It has commanding views over the narrow streets. It is close to everything you need.
And it is competitively priced.
Setúbal is known for its marvelous grilled fish, but otherwise it is a busy city with several important industries (car and ship building, cement, paper) and tourism.
Setubal also has a rich cultural and night life. The renovated Luisa Todi Forum is a state of the art theatre and the ancient Casa da Baía is the new cultural centre.
Higher education instituions are increasingly atracted to Setúbal. Besides the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, the new Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo (hotel and tourism high school), in the totally renovated XVI century fort da Conceição, adjoining the Fontainhas Marina, will start soon. Universidade Lusófona, the largest private higher education institution in Portugal, has announced the installation of the Setubal post-graduations centre.
Setúbal, where the famous poet Bocage was born, is the gateway to the many beautiful beaches on the slopes of Arrábida and to the classy Troia tourist resort on the other side of the River Sado (marina, golf, casino, long beaches).
Setúbal is today part of the Greater Lisbon area. It is directly linked to the airport via the Lisbon metro and the Fertagus trains. The quality train takes you to Lisbon in less than an hour via the 25th of April suspension bridge that is also used by the A2 motorway. If you travel by car you may get to Lisbon via the Vasco da Gama bridge that lands at the new urban area built with the Expo 98.
Enjoy your stay.
