Ergin Akbas

Ergin is a civil engineering professional with diverse background in both design and construction. He currently works for Iberdrola Energy Projects (IEP) as a Project Engineer. He was part of the team that built the largest wind farm in Massachusetts, Hoosac Wind Power Project. Prior to joining IEP, he worked at Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) as a Civil Engineer in the highway design department, with his most notable project being Staten Island Expressway Bus/HOV Extension. Additionally, his responsibilities included site design, cost estimating, specification and traffic engineering. Ergin’s enthusiasm and expertise in the civil engineering field allows him to apply his innovative ideas to projects and be able to thrive in civil engineering field. Ergin is a leader and a team player who understands the job objectives, remains focused during the project and gets the task done, while managing multiple deadlines without running over budget and time. Ergin is a current member of American Society of Civil Engineers, and Rochester Engineering Society. He is also very active in the community. In addition to his professional affiliations, he belongs to number of other community organizations, such as Toastmasters International, House of Mercy, and Rochester Young Professionals. Ergin is a family oriented person and enjoys spending time with family. In his free time, he enjoys, watching sports, skiing, skydiving, traveling and learning about different cultures
