Eric Bauer

Writer, Editor, and Director in Los Angeles, California

Hi,

I began creating photo and video montages quite organically. Wanting to be a filmmaker, I was taking classes on directing and editing a the local community college when my wife's childhood friend was organizing her daughter's Bat Mitzvah, which was going with a Tropical Island theme for its reception. Sayeth the daughter, "I wanna make a movie for my Bat Mitzvah." My wife: "My husband's a director -- he can make a movie for you!" (My wife Madison has always touted me in the most hyperbolic way!)

So I made a movie for Jaqueline's Bat Mitzvah. Surely, divinely inspired in its creation (as are all creative works, I believe), wrote a simple script with a story crossing The Wizard of Oz and Gilligan's Island (it made sense at the time, I swear). Turned out, the audience at the event loved it. And one attendee asked me to create a video for her daughter's Bat Mitzvah. And so it began.

Looking back, that video was so primative, but damn cute just the same.
