Over the years, I have developed a strong passion for children. I always wanted a younger brother or sister. My mom wasn't for the idea, so I started working at a daycare in my hometown when I turned 16.

I was placed in the infant room as a helper for the main teacher. I had to take care of five infants, one of them had a very special impact on my life. Her name was Gracie, and she was diagnosed with a life-long disease known as Prader-Willi Syndrome.

Because of her rare disorder, Gracie constantly had therapists coming in and out of the daycare on a weekly basis. It was said at one point that it was unsure if Gracie would ever be able to walk. Her therapists continued to work with her on her mobility, among other things, and now she is 2 years old and is not just walking but running while interacting with the other children.

It's because of my sweet baby, Gracie, that I intend to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. Who knew that a baby could influence a huge decision such as career choice? Gracie's growth, motivation, and determination has inspired me to become something greater than myself.
