Erica has been training in dance for eighteen years. Erica is a recent graduate of Dean College and holds a B.A in Dance with a minor in Psychology. Her interests include dance, improvisation, teaching, and learning new material. Erica is trained in many genres of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, Modern, Acrobatics, and Irish Step. She has studied under many teacher in her years of dance. Some of her instructors include Gregory King (Horton), Donalin Foreman (Graham), Laura Young (Ballet), Jill Silverman (Ballet), Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp (Contemporary), Shura Baryshnikov (Contemporary), Todd Shanks (Jazz), Jean Wenzel (Tap), Charles Holbrook (Tap), and Ricardo Foster (Hip Hop). As well as technique classes, Erica is also trained in subjects such as Dance Composition, Pedagogy of Dance, Creative Movement, and Film Survey in Dance.Erica attends many master classes and workshops including Dance Teacher's Club of Boston and teacher workshops offered at competitions as well as local studios. Although she is trained in various styles of dance, her passion lies in Jazz and Irish Step. Through her passion Erica has performed in different pieces over the course of her training including a piece called "Girls Run the World", a combination of Hip Hop and Jazz that was student choreographed for a Benefit at Dean College. Erica is also seen around southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island performing in small benefit concerts, including Fall River Celebrates America, the "Back to School Bash" sponsored by the Macy's stores and the Swansea Mall, and local festivals around her hometown. Although performing is a great joy for Erica teaching and sharing her experience is what drives her. With her experience in dance she teaches at Christine's Academy of Dance, a local dance studio in Fall River, Ma. At the studio she works with students ranging from 5 years old to adult. Here, she instructs jazz technique and Irish Step classes.She wishes to incorporate movement, particularly dance and improvisation within a therapeutic setting. Erica will be continuing on in her studies attending Lesley University in the fall. At Lesley University, she will be studying Expressive Therapies with a Specialization in Dance/Movement Therapy. She is excited that her passion has taken her this far in her life and cannot wait to see what the future holds in her dancing and her studies!
