Duluth Mn
Hi! All things eric dubnicka here! Scroll down and check out my website, FB or Instagram for images of my artwork. I'm always seeking exhibition opportunities, so feel free to offer them up!
The objects I create, though at times "pretty", are grounded in the depths of ugliness, the fractured mental state created by society's expectations and the frenetic surroundings in which we exist. Often, with a sardonic eye, the work relies heavily on the figure or the withered self that remains, a caricature, at times surrounded by many and falling into a pattern, much like the din of media in which we are constantly enveloped. The most recent works have become portraits or candid everyday snapshots of unknown folk, just slogging... surviving for a reason perhaps even unknown to them, an ambiguous setting that suggests loss and isolation.
I call Duluth, MN home. Originally from Northern Wisconsin, and after running around the mountains of SE Alaska pretending to be a biologist, in 2000 I returned to a passion that could not be avoided, art-making. Much to my parents chagrin, I received a BFA from the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota. Easily distracted, or bored of the "same old, same old", I prefer working in many mediums and experimenting with new ones. I enjoy throwing together exhibitions and making simple cartoon animals, usually farm animals(domesticated as we're told we should be) or flying pigs. The flying pig representing the chance of me making a career out of this whole art thing. Thanks for reading this. -eric
