My passion for TV can be traced back to my friendship with a big yellow bird and a small green frog and the man who looked just like me. As a child, Sesame Street, The Muppets and LeVar Burton of the Reading Rainbow taught me more than reading and counting, they taught me how to use my imagination and dream. As I grew older, I realized that these friends were fictional. But, I was still left with an increasing curiosity not only about TV but Film and Photography. I fell in love with these fantastic and imaginary worlds that was created by theses tools. This strong sense of curiosity continued on into my teens when I would watch videos like New Editions “ Mr. Telephone Man” or Billy Joel’s “We didn’t Start the Fire” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. Not to forget, the great photographic images of Gordon Parks and those of Time Magazine or National Geographic. Of Course, who can forget to include Star Wars! I was intrigued with these ideas. I was taken by the visualization and the complimentary way the tools were incorporated in how the stories were told. But, more importantly, I wanted to know how these productions happened? How could I do one? By the time, I was a senior in high school my mind was made up. I wanted to do this job.
Determined to pursue this goal, I enlisted in the Army with intent to become a member of the Armed Forces Network. AFN is the United States largest producer of TV productions in America, they services all of the military members as well as their families and civilians around the world. At that point, I was not able to pursue my passion because of reassignment during the Gulf War. After two- years of service and an honorable discharge of service during The Gulf War, I returned home. Shortly after my return, I enrolled in the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. While in school, I landed employment with Tm Sound and Lighting, a local live sound engineering company, were I work as an Assistant Sound Engineer for live events. This was a great opportunity because I learned a great deal about sound and even more so, how this piece worked in this industry. Soon after graduating with an Associates Degree in TV Production. I started my career with a local Miami news station WSVN as an Editor and Coordinator. I went onto work as a Freelance Videographer for a local NBC news station in Miami. Then, I moved on to WPBF as a News and Sports Videographer in West Palm Beach.
Desiring more, I took a leap of faith and returned
