Eric Hartung

Los Angeles, CA

For the last seven years, I have had the pleasure of teaching at Pressman Academy. Currently, I teach 7th Grade Life Science, 8th Grade Physical Science, and a 6th Grade Science Fair Elective. I serve as an 8th Grade Homeroom teacher and the Science Department Chair for the school. My responsibilities also include the planning and management of the middle school retreat and the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C.

For the past eight summers I have taught an Inventions course at Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth, a curriculum I was instrumental in creating. I have been teaching elementary and middle school science since 1997 and hold a California Single Subject Cleared Credential in Geosciences.

Previous to teaching, I spent twenty years in the healthcare industry, managing an operations consulting group, a nine office medical group practice, and a nationwide radiology practice. I earned a both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Health Services Administration and Planning.

I am passionate about creating things. Over the past few years, this has involved developing activities that employ technology to assist and motivate learning. I have shared some of these lessons while presenting at CUE and CSTA conferences. A member of the school's technology committee, I previously served as interim technology coordinator for the middle school. Last year, I earned a Leading Edge Certification in Digital Education and have a certificate as a Google Educator.
