Physician, Father, and Musician in Indianapolis, Indiana
Hi Guys, I’m Erick. I’m a Physician living in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am a fan of innovation, education, and fitness. I’m also interested in entrepreneurship and music.
My journey has been filled with surprises, growth, and improvement. Life is the best teacher and she is full of tests and trials. However,, with the help of God, I have passed every test and trial that Life has thrown my way. Some say I am a true to life success story and I humbly respond, whatever success I have achieved is due to the giants who poured their knowlege and spirit into me.
Being born and raised in Mississipi, I say do not despise small beginnings. I started in small public school classrooms and the obtained my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tougaloo College on a Presidential Scholarship. I then earned my Medical Degree (M.D.) from the University of California, San Franciso and completed a 4-year emergnecy medicine residency training at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri where I was also received the honor of being the first African-American to serve as Chief Resident of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
I have served as attending physician and staff physician at hospitals across the nation and was the youngest Medical Director in the history of Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Illinois.
Though initially enamored by the study and practice of medicine, I found that my true passion was serving people. I saw medicine as a ministry and I was called to serve and deliver God's justice through the healing ministry.
I was a driven man with a purpose and goal to provide health care to those in need. However, my passion deliver compassionate and just care at any cost landed me in hot water with Federal Prosecutors who found the discounted Canadian medications that I provided for my patients who could not afford prescription medications through traditions means were illegal.
Unlike most CEOs, I accepted responsibility and ensured that not one of my employees or medical staff were prosecuted. It was a lesson learned at an enourmous cost but one that I know made me not only a better physician and leader but also a better human being. A man that I'm proud to see in the mirror daily.
I saw my legal struggle as an opportunity to improve myself. In 2016 I enrolled in Eden Theological Seminary and earned my Master of Divinity degree (M.Div) in 2019. I founded U.S. Viritual clinics LLC and now provide healthcare to those who need it most via telemedicine.
