For nearly 30 years, Eric Marsh, Sr has been a father, a mentor, and a community advocate. He is a senior leader specializing in community engagement and community-centered practices in journalism, public health and city government, whose work has been recognized both regionally and nationally. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the 2024 State Impact Award from City & State PA.
Eric has led engagement and outreach initiatives in local government, nonprofits, public health, and public media.
The Fathering Circle
He is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Fathering Circle, a 501c3 peer support organization for fathers and male caregivers. Eric is an advocate for healthy families and a champion for Black men and boys. His work promotes the importance of healthy fatherhood and parenting practices. He has served as a Board member for organizations such as NAMEN (North American Men Engage), The Men's Center for Growth and Change, MBK Cares, and others.
Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting
Eric is currently the Director of Operations for the Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting (PCGVR). This nonprofit journalism support organization trains journalists and professional communicators how to produce more empathetic, ethical, and impactful reporting on gun violence and the individuals and communities it affects. The work of PCGVR is supported by its sibling programs Survivor Connection, the Association of Gun Violence Reporters (AGVR), and the multidisciplinary research collaborative.
A seasoned public speaker, he has delivered keynotes and presentations to organizations such as Philadelphia's Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHIDS) and North American Men Engage (NAMEN). He has presented at numerous conferences on the importance of civic engagement, collaborative and community-centered journalism, healthy fatherhood and equitable parenting practices, and much more.
