Eric studied color photography at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Journalism and graduated with a B.A. in English Literature.

Eric’s prints are in several private collections and museums including the National Portrait Gallery, and the George Eastman Museum, and he has won numerous awards including the Advertising Photographer of the Year award in 1986 from the American Society of Media Photographers.

In 2005 Insight Editions published a book of his photographs of Bruce Springsteen, "Born to Run: The Unseen Photos," and in 2008 Welcome Books published "INDIA: In Word & Image."

In 2014 he received the “Power of the Image” George Eastman award.

Recently, he has been chasing storms in Tornado Alley, and a book of these images titled “FIERCE BEAUTY” was published in 2019 by the The Images Publishing Group, and it was included on Smithsonian's list of the Ten Best Travel Books of the year.
