I was blessed by accident with my youngest son, a decade younger than his big brother. We had no idea that this little boy would change our outlook on the world, on medicine, on school, on life.

The oldest is hyper logical. He, at 10, knew what he wanted to do when he grew up and was working toward it.

Middle child, my daughter, is an artistic free spirit. A "glitter tomboy in combat boots."

Xavier is the baby. He is special. He has a road ahead of him that will be bumpy at best. But we have to rally around him every day.
