Erik Deutsch

Erik Deutsch is a media strategist, industry advocate and educator. As principal of Los Angeles-based ExcelPR Group, he has created award-winning campaigns for clients in technology-related fields such as healthcare (biotech/medical devices), digital media, entertainment and international business development. Recent clients include the California Film Commission, the Southern California Biomedical Council (SoCalBio) and the U.S. Representative Office of Shenzhen, Peoples Republic of China. Prior to launching ExcelPR Group in 2004, Erik worked on staff and as a consultant for several of the world's largest PR agencies. He also worked as a writer/editor, and helped launched Interactive PR News in 1995 as the first national news publication on new media for communications industry professionals.

Erik serves as 2014 President of the Public Relations Society of America, Los Angeles Chapter (PRSA-LA), and as an instructor at UCLA Extension, where he teaches "Best Practices in Social Media for the Communications Professional" (UCLA X425). He is a frequent speaker at major PR, marketing and digital media conferences across the U.S. (recent appearances include SXSW, BlogWorld/New Media Expo, Digital Hollywood, Social Media Week Los Angeles and Internet Week NYC).

Erik earned a masters degree from USC's Annenberg School for Communication and an undergraduate degree in economics from UCLA.
