My entire career has been… well let’s call it, eclectic.
With various degrees ranging from Psychology to Commerce with a few in between I, naturally, went head first to the bustling hospitality industry as an Executive Meeting and Event Specialist. Working 18-20 hour days on my feet I’d often find myself sneaking a power nap in unsellable rooms in the hotel… or on the floor in the Grand Ballroom. Yes, that happened.
Prior to my stint as a workaholic hotel troll, I worked at a Golf Course for 4 years, a high end wedding facility as a wedding planner for 3 and oh yes, spent time as a buyer at a health food store. All this, while telling myself I would be a board-certified Psychiatrist by the time I was 30. Funny right? Hindsight really is 20/20.
After accepting the fact that I was a little too empathetic to be a Psychiatrist, a little too young to be a hotel troll I thought, I’m going to move to Australia and travel the world. Yadda, yadda, yadaa… After living and working as a travelling lumberjack, (a story for another time) in Australia, Thailand, New Zealand and Hawaii I was ready for home in Canada again.
That brings me to present day. After golf courses, hotels, weddings, health foods and being a travelling Lumberjack, I went into Sales and Marketing with one of Canada’s biggest media companies Corus Entertainment. Cool, right?! Meh.
I have acknowledged that I like to work and I like to work hard and a lot. I’ve often taken on two jobs, not necessarily for the money but for the challenge and activity of keeping busy. Often looking for new and stimulating things, I find myself at a cross roads once again with my creative brain yearning for more.
So, what's my next venture?
