If you asked me what the bravest thing I've ever done is, I would tell you moving to Ecuador at 22 to work for a travel guide. At the time it didn't seem brave, just like a great opportunity. Successfully navigating life in a foreign land helped me realize how strong and capable I am. Professionally I managed the production of a guidebook, from style guide creation, to editing and publication. It is no longer for sale on Amazon, but if you are up to the challenge of using an outdated guidebook to explore Ecuador let me know and I can send you my copy.

My longest and most successful career endeavor was my time with a non-profit association management company where I worked with five diverse clients. I planned events, created websites, watched budgets, recruited members and volunteers, managed schedules - basically you name it I did it. I loved bringing our dedicated and passionate board members' ideas to fruition with my hard work.

Recently I took a bit of a left turn and spent two years in retail. The retail world is fast-paced and ever changing. Rather than working for months, even years on a project, you work your butt off for a few hours and then admire the perfect store. I found the change of environments very refreshing.

Aside from working on my muscle tone, the experience gave me invaluable leadership experience. I got to do things like lead truck unloads and store reworks, manage the floor and train my colleagues. It drove home how important it is for me to be working with people. It was rewarding brightening customer’s days and helping my colleagues refine their skills and strengths.

This brings us to now. I want to combine my passions and experiences into a new opportunity. Research has led this super organized, detail-oriented, people person to believe project management is the place for me. Let’s see if I can convince an agency or non-profit to give me a chance and prove it's true.
