Erin Bacon
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Since working for the Alberta College of Art & Design early in my career, I have cultivated a deep appreciation for Calgary’s arts community. Throughout a 10 year career and now as a freelance marketing and communication consultant, my focus remains on helping art organizations and artists tell their stories.
Beyond my commitment to the arts, who I am and how I work creates my success. My relaxed and easygoing style ensures that the work gets done in an effective and enjoyable fashion.
I have extensive experience planning, implementing and evaluating marketing plans and tactics for artists and arts organizations in both the visual and performing arts. In my most recent role at UPPERCASE magazine I leveraged social media to build and strengthen a fan community to market both the magazine and other publications to potential customers. I successfully wove marketing into all communications efforts to create a cohesive online presence.
In my work as a publicist I quickly uncover the heart of a story, find the best angle for my client’s project and get my pitch into the hands of the most appropriate editor. I excel at identifying the most interesting angle within the client’s story and efficiently provide the salient details for the journalist.
After a project is complete, I revel in exploring the results to discover what worked (and what didn’t) to create a strong foundation for the future.
From assisting established artists with their marketing to managing large subscription and renewal campaigns, my proven track record helps artists grow their business and tell their stories. I thrive on the energy of creators and find fulfilment in helping them reach their goals and grow their businesses and customer base.
