Teaching Career:
I am the librarian at Cedar Creek Elementary and Westview Elementary!
Prior to becoming a librarian I was a teacher in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District for 10 years. All 10 years were at Cedar Creek Elementary where I taught first grade students.

- Greater Kansas City Association of School Librarians
- Missouri Association of School Librarians
- Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society
- The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi - top 10% of graduate students at UCM
- Technology Team (building level)
- Literacy Team (building level)
- International Reading Association
- Book Club - read and have discussions with 4th - 6th grade students
- Professional Leadership Committee (representative for my team) - view / analyze data, plan professional development, report to my grade level/department
Previously:
- LARRC- Study conducted by the University of Kansas on reading and listening comprehension. I implemented 4 lessons a week for 30 minutes a day and provided feedback on the lessons. I then assessed 5 students within this study. I participated in 3 units in the 2012 - 2013 school year and each of these units consisted of 24 lessons.
- Student Council Co-Chair (2 years) - Helped the students run the school store and order supplies, organized dances, collected money for needy families and provided guidance to the STUCO members in order for them to buy gifts for these families
- Social Committee Chair for our Elementary School (3 years) - balanced dues, organized events, facilitated meetings
- International Reading Association Chair for our building (2 years) - collected dues, promoted membership, attended meetings and shared information with my staff
- MAP team committee member (3 years) - scheduled dates, plan of action for best practices, organized a parent information session
- Who’s Who Among American Teachers
- MU Fellow - Received a Masters degree through the University of Missouri in Curriculum and Instruction while teaching my first year (2004 - 2005)
