Who's Behind the Brand

I'm Ernesta Gibbs—creative writer, designer, marketer, and face behind Leagual Designs Retail. As a multi-disciplined individual, I handle the entire lifecycle of my apparel brand—from sketching original prints to crafting the copy and marketing the final products.

I've done more than witness firsthand the impact of trauma on families, particularly on mothers and children affected by criminal and violent intent. I relive my personal experience every day.

Through my work as a writer with, and founder of Leagualscript Writing & Publishing@Friends of LFSCVI community (League of Female Survivors of Criminal & Violent Intent), I support justice for women dealing with victimization, institutional negligence, and agonizingly prolonged judicial delays—where many are forced to wait over five years after a preliminary hearing just to face their day in court, as I did.

Alongside this fight for systemic accountability, I foster healing for women navigating the aftermath of trauma. I believe in empowerment through personal growth, self-discipline, the courage to reclaim one's narrative, and a healthy dose of stubbornness.

That stubbornness became a purpose. That purpose became a brand.

Fashion as Creative Expression

When Ronelle King founded Life in Leggings: Caribbean Alliance Against Gender-Based Violence in 2016, I marched — not as an organization, but as a woman who already lived this fight. A writer. An advocate. Someone who understood that showing up matters, even when systems fail you.

Fashion became my third language for the same truth. If writing gave women words, the march gave women visibility — and Leagual Designs gives women something to wear every single day as a reminder of their own resilience: a lifestyle brand for women who see their clothing as more than fabric.
