Whether you are looking to sell your home, or simply want to add value to it, then this is the blog post for you. Kerb appeal (or garden appeal) can seriously add thousands to your home as people do buy with their eyes. Essex Drives and Patios ltd

Give your garden a makeover

Who doesn’t love an attractive and well-designeduncared-forwell-kept garden? There is nothing worse than looking at a house you intend to buy and laying your eyes on an untidy and uncared-for outdoor space. A garden that looks well-kept, and has been thought about carefully, gives your home instant appeal and does give buyers the impetus to put in an offer.

However, when you think about updating your garden there are a few things worth considering:

  • Provide some privacy. It’s not always possible to have a garden that is looked over but, if you can create a feeling of seclusion, it will add value. Why not consider raisingyour boundary fencesor walls to 2m without needing planning permission (0.6m on the highway)?
  • Create distinct areas. Think about how people use their outdoor space. Maybe you create a lawn area for relaxing (or a game of family football)? Would a barbeque area work in your garden for entertaining guests over the summer months? Maybe some nice borders would bring the garden to life and add some colour to your garden every season of the year?
  • Get building. Structures, such as pergolas, can be up to 4m without needing planning.
  • Create the perfect pathway. Nobody likes trudging over wet grass in the winter months so get creative with your paving and lead the buyers eye around your garden.

A well-designed patio area will also make people think that your home is definitely the kind of house you want to live in. There are some amazing natural stone finishes, colours and sizes available in Sandstone,Limestone, Granite or Slate. Or you could try the very popular porcelain patio which is durable and easy to maintain due to its resistance to staining, moss, algae and lichen growth. So it will always look good when prospective buyers pop around!

Create Parking Space

There are over 31 million cars registered in the UK. Current statistics also show that many households have more than one car (on average 1.2 cars per household). All these figures show the very real need for a space to park a car, or two, at your home.
