Were I to peer into a crystal ball and envision my life ten years from now, there are certain things I would not be surprised to see. As the smoke clears, the vision becomes clearer and clearer, and the jostling bustling motion of a 1962 Volkswagen Microbus as it makes its way down a country road comes into view. Behind the wheel is a girl who looks much like I do now, with the addition of a few strategically placed tattoos, wearing a tye-dyed shirt, and John Lennon shades. The music blaring from the practically defunct radio is a random mix of classic rock from the early sixties to the late seventies. Singing along, content as can be is a 26 year old Eva who now goes by the pseudonym StarChild on her way to yet another burgeoning music festival where the bands are not too famous to have sold out, yet not too weak so as to not deserve their space on stage. Her life is a never ending series of festivals, art shows, and street fairs where StarChild sells her hand painted pet rocks, never really selling out, but always capitalizing just enough to cover her next road trip. She smiles as she makes the turn onto the next single lane highway knowing that she is living life on her own terms, doing what makes her happy, and refusing to conform to the rules, regulations, and expectations that had before been so unfairly pressed upon her. Eva/StarChild is happy.
“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?” - John Lennon
