Lizette brings over 10 years of experience in immigration advocacy, civic engagement program development and implementation, and knowledge of the Latino Vote. Lizette has worked as a Strategic Communications and Development consultant for clients like the Alliance for Citizenship, a coalition of over 400 organizations advocating for immigration reform. As a contractor she has worked on various issue areas from administrative relief for immigrants and the Latino Vote, to climate change and environmental justice with firms like the Cardenas Strategy Group. Lizette’s independent work has primarily focused on earned Spanish Language media strategies, working closely with Univision Network, Telemundo, Azteca America, Estrella TV, and impreMedia. Lizette most recently served as Field Director for U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) but prior to that served as the National Director of Development & Communications for the Mi Familia Vota Education Fund (MFVEF), where she was responsible for ensuring program funding and sustainability along with communications strategies and media relations. During her time at MFVEF, Lizette was able to effectively raise over $1.4 million in private funding. Prior to MFVEF Lizette served as Director of National Programs and Community Relations at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Ed Fund, where she led the implementation of the "ya es hora" civic engagement campaign. A campaign nationally recognized by the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services as one of the most effective models to ensure Latino access to the naturalization process. Lizette also helped lead the implementation of the New Americans Campaign in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Miami, New York, Houston, Dallas, and Charlotte and the launch of their Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) national bilingual hotline.
