Biography

Eunkyung Shin is an artist and musician living in the United Kingdom. Born in South Korea, she is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Andrew West and John Reid in a Master degree. She graduated Bachelor course, majored in Piano. Following this, she dove into deep studying in a MA course in Pusan National University, where she studied a wide range of musicology including music psychology and therapy. Also she achieved the MBA course in E-wha university.

She ran a music institute herself from 2006, and she worked for the Yamaha Music Foundation in Korea from 2007-2013. In this period, she could ascertain the process of education, teaching a wide range of ages, with more than 1000 students and managing a career as a teacher in practical areas. This experience affected her enormously, to engage with music education and also she found a vocation to dedicate herself to as she loves more music and people.

Also she gained certificates from America, Canada, Japan, and Great Britain to improve her practical teaching skills and understanding of the process in regard to music education. She worked as a player/demonstrator and an accompanist with many artists, playing the piano and an election (a special keyboard, making all orchestra sounds, made by YAMAHA). She worked in broadcast in Busan for three years (2012-2015) performing in a variety of stages, which enhanced her music potential as a performer. After coming to the UK, she entered the Royal Academy of Music to become more delicate in her musical sense and skills, which would be complementary with all that she has studied and experienced so far. She keeps working as a private music teacher to a diverse international of students in Cambridge and London, as well as experiencing British education in several schools and colleges.

Her dream is to be an excellent performer and an expert in music education, to be a person who share the richness and excitement of music by using very efficient methods and great skills. One of her hopes is to one day go to North Korea to give a music education to the common people as there has been a lack of opportunity in music education.
