An interesting aspect of my life is my journey with music. It’s something that I’m very passionate about, and may even consider majoring in. But as a kid, I HATED music. In elementary school, my mom loved listening to her artists and playing her songs, but I’m sad to say, I could not participate with her. One time when she was shuffling through her songs in an attempt to find one I liked, I rejected so many in a row, that she asked me “Do I seriously need to take you to a doctor to get your brain checked? Because this is seriously not normal.” So eventually I just picked one out without thinking too much about it.

Then starting around pre-middle school age, all of my friends were talking about joining band. Band seemed very exciting because it is very different from the classes we’ve always had. While I was debating joining, I was at my cousin's house and she showed me how she plays her flute. At the time, this was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. At this point, my mind was made up that the flute was what I was going to play, and nobody could convince me otherwise. So I played the flute in band and sure enough, I loved it.

To think back to where I started, I ended up coming a long way with music. I played all throughout middle and high school, plus some out-of-school bands. I met most of my friends from band and we bonded by how much we love music and instruments. Like most people, I eventually picked up listening to music. And that’s one of my favorite hobbies right now.
